8/4/2008 It's Getting Closer!
We're nearing the end of our unofficial 2008 season with only two public scrimmages left. Your second-to-last chance to see your favorite rollergirls in action this year is going to be on Sunday, August 17th. We'll be going against the Derby City Rollergirls from Louisville, KY with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. at our usual stomping grounds (AKA Skateworld of Kettering on E. David Rd.). Your entry fee is a measly $2 donation to help keep our beloved league up and running. Come see us before it's too late!
7/14/2008 FREE Roller derby!
Are you a fan who misses watching your Gem City Rollergirls play? Are you a potential recruit who can't decide if you want to skate or referee for us? Well, let us feed your need. On Sunday, July 20th, we're having a FREE public scrimmage with the NEO Rock-n-Rollergirls from Akron, Ohio. We're opening the doors during our normal practice time so that you can get a taste of roller derby in Dayton. Join us at Skateworld of Kettering at 1601 E. David Rd. from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You don't have to pay to get it, but donations to league will be greatly appreciated.
6/10/2008 Help the GCRG raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters
The Old Time Newsies have invited us to take part in their FREE Block Party on Friday, June 13th at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds from 5:00-11:00. It's a kick-off for their 38th annual Motorcycle races on Saturday, June 14th to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. We'll be selling merchandise, pouring beer, and mingling with the crowd. In addition to your favorite rollergirls, there will be a bike show sponsored by Led Sled Customs, a 1973 Hot Rod Cruise-in, and live music by Brothers in Arms, as well as Brian Hoeflich and the All-nighters. They've got it all: cars, motorcyles, music, and rollergirls, so bring your friends and family to help us raise funds for a great organization!
